Two asteroids have been named after Dr. Laurie Leshin and Dr. Carleton Moore by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). Congratualtions Drs. Leshin and Moore for this prestigious recognition! The following are the citations written by Tim McCoy (mccoy.tim@nmnh.si.edu). The asteroids were kindly donated by Bobby Bus (sjb@IfA.Hawaii.edu).

Dr. Laurie Leshin
Asteroid (4922) Leshin = 1981 EH4
Discovered 1981 Mar.2 by S.J. Bus at Siding Spring in the course of the U.K. Schmidt-Caltech Asteroid Survey.
Laurie Leshin (b. 1965), assistant professor at Arizona State University, has used isotopic analyses to investigate geologic processes recorded in Martian meteorites. Her work on oxygen and hydrogen isotopes has been fundamental to understanding the interaction between the hydrosphere and crust of Mars.

Dr. Carleton Moore
Asteroid (5046) Carletomoore = 1981 DQ
Discovered 1981 Feb.28 by S.J. Bus at Siding Spring in the course of the U.K. Schmidt-Caltech Asteroid Survey.
A professor of Chemistry and Geology at Arizona State University, Carleton Moore (b. 1932) performed carbon, nitrogen and sulfur analyses on Apollo lunar samples. Carleton is the founding director of the Center for Meteorite Studies and was editor of the journal "Meteoritics" for 20 years.
